Sounds like Music

Music has a way of drawing people together. Jeff Roberts knew this better than anyone. In addition to being a loving father and son, most people knew Jeff as the person who ran Sounds Familiar and later, Sounds Better. Jeff was the heart of the musical community in Myrtle Beach. He brought together musicians and music lovers of all styles and genres by sharing his own love of music as well as his incredible musical knowledge.

Myrtle Beach lost a key part of their community when they lost Jeff this past week; however, the community he built is strong. Seeing the people whose lives Jeff touched, it is obvious that each and every one of them will further his legacy by sharing their love of music with the people around them. I can’t think of a more fitting tribute.

For my part, I would like to encourage people to support musical education by volunteering or donating to South by Southeast (SxSE), an organization Jeff was instrumental in founding.

That’s sad to hear. I didn’t know Jeff, but I sure did know Sounds Familiar. What would we have done without it?

Nakia: I can’t imagine; it was a huge part of my life I wouldn’t trade for anything.
